XXX-BRIDGE is a pedestrian area, which is designed to revisit the idea of a bridge as a multifunctional urban object. The shape of the bridge was created by the transformation and rotation of three Saint Andrew’s Crosses from the coat of arms of Amsterdam.
XXX-BRIDGE is a swing bridge. In its main position, the bridge allows access directly to the Hermitage Amsterdam Museum from the east bank of the Amstel River and creates areas for relaxation and sightseeing. In a rotated position the bridge represents three crosses clearly and forms a passway for large boats. Also in this position, three parts of the bridge could be used as performance stages during celebrations and festivals.
